Q: How does Invisalign work?

A: Our Doctors map out your tooth movements on a 3D model of your mouth. They will even show you your virtual treatment plan and what your smile will look like when you’re finished. Invisalign creates customized, clear, plastic aligners based on his specifications. Each set of aligners is programmed to gently apply pressure to move teeth in a certain a way and as you go through your aligners, your smile shifts into place.

Q: Does Invisalign hurt?

A: Invisalign doesn’t hurt. However, when you first put in a new set of aligners, your teeth might be sore for a day or two. Discomfort is very mild and it just means your aligners are working!

Q: How often will I need to come in for appointments during Invisalign treatment?

A: We see most patients every six to eight weeks for a quick checkup.

Q: How long will Invisalign treatment last?

A: The length of your Invisalign treatment will depend on a number of factors, including how severe your case is, as well as how well you follow instructions for wearing your aligners. Some patients finish in as little as six months, while for others the duration is about the same as braces. Our Doctors will be able to determine the number of aligners you’ll need when he examines you and takes diagnostic records. Schedule your free consultation today to find out.

Q: Will Invisalign affect my speech?

A: For the first few days you wear your aligners, you might notice a slight lisp. However, your speech will return to normal once you get acclimated.

Q: What are the benefits of Invisalign?

A: The aligners are clear, so most people won’t notice you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment. Since they’re also removable, they won’t interfere with your daily life. You’ll have the flexibility to eat and drink what you’d like and brush and floss as you normally would for healthy teeth and gums and fresh breath. The aligners are made without brackets and wires, which means no irritation and they’re extremely comfortable. The treatment planning process is precise and no adjustments are required, so you’ll simply pop in for a quick visit every six to eight weeks, saving you time.

Q: How much does Invisalign cost?

A: The cost of Invisalign depends on the number of aligners you need. We’ll give you a price up front at your initial consultation so there are no surprises. We accept most insurances and even file claims on your behalf. We also offer flexible financing plans. We’ll work with you to make sure Invisalign fits your budget.

Q: Will I need to wear a retainer when I’m finished with Invisalign?

A: Yes. Wearing a retainer is the only way to ensure your results last a lifetime. Most patients wear their retainer full time for a short period and then transition to using it just at night. We’ll fit you for a custom, clear retainer that’s equally as invisible as Invisalign when your treatment is complete.

Q: Will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?

  • Time for a snack? No problem. Take out your aligners to eat or drink whenever you want.
  • Since Invisalign is virtually invisible, chances are, no one will even notice anything is different, until your new smile is revealed, of course.
  • You can remove your Invisalign aligners, so you can brush and floss regularly and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
  • You can occasionally remove your Invisalign aligners and enjoy a special night out.
  • There’s no need to change a thing. Continue your day-to-day activities while still straightening your teeth.
  • Be yourself with Invisalign. Since it’s clear, you don’t have to hide your smile while going through treatment.
  • With Invisalign, it’s easy to make your smile picture perfect for that special occasion.
  • Invisalign appointments work with your schedule. Most visits are in and out, with a quick progress check once every six weeks.

Q: How often do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?

A: We recommend wearing your Invisalign aligners for about 22 hours per day for the best results. You’ll take them out to eat and brush and floss your teeth. Every one to two weeks, depending on your needs, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners.

Q: Can children and teenagers be treated with Invisalign?

A: Yup! Invisalign Teen is made especially for growing mouths and has special features like compliance indicators and eruption tabs that account for developing teeth. There are also some free replacement aligners included in the system, which is a big plus for parents. We’ve achieved outstanding results on our younger patients using Invisalign.

Q: Does Invisalign have food restrictions?

A: There are zero food restrictions with Invisalign since you’ll take your aligners out when you eat. You can still enjoy all of your favorites!

Q: Can I smoke while I’m wearing Invisalign aligners?

A: We don’t recommend smoking at all and you definitely should avoid smoking while wearing your aligners since the nicotine will cause discoloration and then your treatment will no longer be invisible.

Q: Can I chew gum with Invisalign?

A: You can chew gum if you take your aligners out. Keep in mind though that you need to wear them for 22 hours a day, so don’t leave them out too long.

Q: How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

A: You can purchase an Invisalign cleaning system but the easiest way to keep your aligners fresh and sparkling is to simply brush them with a toothbrush and a bit of toothpaste and rinse them in lukewarm water daily.

Q: How do I know if I’m a candidate for Invisalign treatment?
