It’s been an amazing year at Davis Orthodontics and we’ve finally made it to the happiest season of all: the holiday season! It’s time to put up the tree, deck the halls and get into the hustle and bustle. We want this holiday season to truly be the most wonderful time of the year for our Greer and Simpsonville orthodontic patients. So we’ve rounded up all of the best holiday activities for families in Greer, Simpsonville and the surrounding area. Read on for the ultimate list of things to do in South Carolina this winter.

One of our favorite parts of the holiday season is the bright, twinkling lights around every corner. And there’s no better way to soak it all in than by attending a holiday light show. The only thing better than a fantastic display of lights and decorations? A light show with live animals! Hollywild Animal Preserve has created the perfect holiday activity for kids and adults alike with their annual holiday lights safari. After driving through to see the lights, spend some time in Santa’s Village meeting the animals and warming your hands by the bonfire. On Saturday, December 14th, Main Street in Simpsonville will be transformed into a holiday market. Hosted by the Clock Tower Artistic Cooperative, the Shopping the Tracks Holiday Market will take place right next to the historic Clock Tower. Sip festive cider and listen to Christmas carols as you stroll through the many local vendors. Who knows, you might be able to finish all your holiday shopping in one go!

Dig out the skates and hit the rink for a wintery family activity in Greenville that your kids will love. Admission is $10 for anyone age 13 and up, $8 for kids age 4 to 12, and free for little ones under 3 years old. Visit on a Monday from 3pm to 8pm to get two-for-one admission, or on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm for $5 skates. Ice on Main is one of Greenville’s best holiday activities and we’re willing to bet your whole family will think so too.

  1. Watch the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Greer City Park December 6th, 2019 @ 5-8pm Website

Looking for a fun and festive holiday event in Greer? Head to Greer City Park on December 6th to kick off the holiday season with the annual tree lighting ceremony. There will be craft tables, live entertainment and even a s’mores station! The festivities begin at 5pm and Santa arrives at 7:15pm to help light up the City Christmas Tree.

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without a Christmas parade. On December 7th, you won’t want to miss the Poinsettia Parade in Greenville. The parade has been a holiday tradition in Greenville for over 75 years, heralding the start of the Christmas season. You’ll see marching bands, community groups and festive floats of all kinds. So bundle up, fill the thermos with hot cocoa and settle in for a time-honored Greenville holiday event.

Santa’s workshop, holiday market, tree lighting and a parade — what else do you need to kick of the holiday season in festive style? This year, visit the Mauldin Cultural Center for three days of winter fun. The festivities starting on December 5th with a holiday market and pictures with Santa. On December 6th, enjoy hot chocolate and live music with friendly neighbors as you watch Santa light the tree. Finish the weekend off with the Christmas parade on December 7th at 2pm. It’s a fun-filled holiday event in Mauldin for the whole family. The best part? The whole weekend is free for everyone (photos with Santa are available for purchase). For a Christmas lights spectacle your family won’t soon forget, you have to visit Anderson’s Christmas Light Show across from Anderson Civic Center. With over 3.5 million lights, Santa’s Village and wagon rides for the kids, there’s something for everyone at this Anderson family holiday event. This is a great option for fans of TNT Lights (also known as Tommy & Tony’s Lights in Mauldin, SC). TNT took the last two years off and haven’t yet announced if there’s a show this year.
